The 2026 Parade – St. Patricks Day in Lucan

The Lucan St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a free family day out in Lucan. The parade is held every year since 1991 on St. Patrick’s Day 17th March.

This year St. Patrick’s Day falls on the Public Holiday Tuesday 17th March 2026..

Lucan St. Patrick’s Day Parade is a non-profit, volunteer lead, organisation funded by a Community Grant from South Dublin County Council, donations from Lucan Traders, and various fundraising events held during the year.

Lucan Parade Start Time

The Lucan Parade takes place at 3pm sharp.

Lucan Parade assembly

The parade will assemble and commence at the large green located at Green Park Road / Westbrook Park / Hillcrest Close in Hillcrest (adjacent to Tesco) from 2pm, be in place by 2:30pm.

Lucan Parade route

The Parade commences at 3pm sharp and proceeds down Dodsboro Road, under the N4 bridge onto the Leixlip Road (R835), past McDonalds, onwards towards The Bally Alley pub, and into Lucan Village, turning left at AIB, past the review stand located outside the Muitir na Tire hall, and disperses up through the village (R109) past Lucan House in the direction of the Lucan LIffey Bridge.

The parade takes two hours approximately to complete the route.

Meeting point to pick-up parade participants after the parade is St. Mary’s Boys National School, Chapel Hill.

Entry Fee

There is no fee to enter the parade.

R835 Lucan Road from the Village to St Marys Church
R120 Adamstown Road from Courtneys to N4
No through road through the village R109 & R835

A Lifetime of Service: Liam Cullen to Lead Lucan Parade as Grand Marshal

This year we are very pleased to welcome the Liam Cullen, Lucan Red Cross as the 2026 Parade Marshal.

A lifelong commitment to community service will be honoured at this year’s Lucan St Patrick’s Day Parade, with the appointment of a Grand Marshal whose quiet dedication has been felt for generations. Liam Cullen of the Lucan Red Cross has been part of every parade for more than three decades, always focused on keeping others safe.

This year’s Lucan St Patrick’s Day Parade will be led by someone who has quietly supported the community for decades. Liam Cullen of the Lucan Red Cross is named 2026 Grand Marshal, recognising a lifetime of service and a remarkable record of having attended every parade since 1991.

For almost 55 years, Liam is at the heart of the Lucan Red Cross. Generations of volunteers have been trained by him in first aid and emergency response, and his calm, reassuring presence has become a familiar sight at parades, festivals and local events throughout the year.

Liam’s commitment goes beyond emergency cover. He plays a key role in sustaining Lucan Red Cross initiatives, including the much‑loved Senior Citizens Christmas Dinner, with the 75th dinner taking place last Christmas, continuing a tradition that brings companionship, care and dignity to older members of the community.

Honouring Liam as Grand Marshal is a fitting tribute to a man whose dedication helps make Lucan a safer, stronger and more connected place.
