Thank you our our wonderful volunteers who were up bright and early on a Sunday morning to help us get ready for the Lucan St. Patrick’s Day Parade 2024. Volunteers come from our local community, from the South Dublin Volunteer Centre, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association Ireland, Lucan Tidy Towns, Lucan Men’s Shed, Lucan ICA, and the Transition Year students from St. Josephs College Lucan.This year we were very pleased to welcome Dublin Senior and Lucan Sarsfield’s GAA goal keeper Abby Shiels as our 2024 Parade Marshall. Abby is the winner of the 2023 ZuCar Golden Glove award. She is also the top goalie in the country having brought home to Lucan the All Star Award for her goalkeeper position in 2023 which is the highest standard in Ladies Senior Football. She is the first Lucan lady to bring this prestigious award home to Lucan. Abby’s accomplishments are an amazing achievement and an example for all young people in Lucan who aspire to participate in sport at a high standard.
Abby arrived in style at the review stand in the Barberstown Castle vintage car.The Parade Marshall Award was awarded to Stagg Cycles and Lucan Cycle Club. The doctor came to Jimmy’s rescue with a huge syringe when Jimmy fall off the bike, luckily he was able to revive him because we were no use laughing our heads off at the spectacle.The Peter Brady perpetual cup for Best in Parade was awarded to the Goldwing Owners Club, always a brilliant entry in the parade, and great community spirit they are involved in pretty much every fundraiser that goes on in the village. Paddy Kenny perpetual trophy for Best turned out group awarded to Na Gaeil Óga CLG. Lucan’s fastest growing GAA.The first Jim Toner perpetual award for best commercial entry was awared to RTH Property Maintenance, or as we know him over many years supporting the Lucan parade, Remi the Handyman.The Munitir na Tire prize was awarded to Serena Brady Academy of Dance with a wonderful performance by the little ballerinas.
